"At the colonial speeches, the candlemaker had a display of how they make candles.  Candles were expensive because the beeswax and all the other wax that was in it were expensive to get.  The candles that they had were not very smelly except for the beeswax." -Mary

"After we walked through the halls for the 5th grade colonial night, we had to write 10 things that we learned about the 13 colonies." -Chase

"We read more of the Whipping Boy. Jemmy and Prince Brat are in a potato carriage to the fair." -Kenan

"When I walked through the halls for Colonial Night, I was walking around with Mary and Taylor.  We went and saw Jordan and Madison." -Abby

"I liked how we got to compare the sizes of animal brains and how much gyri and sulci they had in their brains. The mole is not very smart. The mole's cortex is really smooth." -Trey

"We learned that in the neuron, the more slick the myelin is, the faster the messages get sent.  You can drink water to make it more slick." -Kaydin

Some of the best parts about our first day of school:

  • Holding the human brain
  • We have choice bins in our class to use when our work is done
  • We get tickets for good behavior
  • If we get 25 punches in our stars, we can get a Kit Kat bar
  • The brain has gyri and sulci (Gyri are the bumps and the sulci are the grooves)
  • We got to meet our teachers
