"Today we took pictures in our football gear during library." - Ashlynn

" This morning two 6th graders came in to take our pictures if we wore Seahawks gear." - Chase

" Kenan was the only brave one who was a Broncos fan." - Ella

" We had library today and did some puzzles but found they had missing pieces." - Kenan

" Carrie, Ella and I did a duck puzzle and we called duckie-mo-mo." - Matt

" During reading I read The Black Stallion and the Shape Shifter." - Abby

"Today I read a book that Chase wrote." - Torri

"Today we had social studies rotations, we watched a video about the Whitman's and added more to the banner that we're doing." ~ Carrie

"The Whitman's were two people that came across the Rocky Mountains, they helped the Native Americans. Mrs. Whitman helped them learn to sew, cook, knit and speak English. The husband was a doctor and he helped those that were sick. The Whitman's were actually carrying Small Pox and Measles, which they passed onto the Native American's." ~ Kaydin

"In P.E. we had our bones test, I got 100%!" ~ Kolby

"Austin Hillborn said 'I was born to blog!'" ~ LJ

"During reading we did an IVF summary about this story we read called Words Add up to Success. The story was about a teacher who changed his students' lives by motivating them with strong words to do better and be successful." ~ Kylee

"This morning we had math rotations and we did division using the dot model." ~ Ashlynn

"I studied for the bone test and I got 100% on the bone test too!" ~ Ella

"Today in reading, we read 'A Renaissance in Harlem'. I learned that there were many popular African American entertainers and artists." -Kolby

"In music, we sang 'Roll On Columbia, Roll On' and 'Grand Coulee Dam'. We also did try-outs for the solos and narrators." -Layne

"This afternoon we got the opportunity to take an SRI test." -Chase

"Our class got to have a lot of computer time today doing math games, SRI and finishing typing our writing prompt." -Kaitlin

"During math we learned how to divide 4 digit numbers by 2,3,4, and 5." -Abby

"Today in PE we didn't take the bone test because only 4 or 5 people studied." -Sean

"This afternoon we went to Mrs. Byrd's and we did social studies. We learned about how people got to Washington. It was a very difficult journey.  Many people died and got ill." -Mikaela

"At the beginning of the year 116 fur trappers went out, and at the end of the year only 16 lived." -Ella

"For the project in social studies, we got to make a big map of where they lived and some things we put on it were a big river.  We are also going to put on the fur trappers lodge and we did tipis, trees, and animals." -Kaydin

"Ashlynn and I read Trouble River with Ms. Mary." -Kylee

"This morning we had a lesson with Radical Rick.  We were doing experiments about sound. We learned that sound travels in waves and travels faster through water and steel because they are more dense so the vibrations travel faster." -LJ

"With Radical Rick, one of the stations that I got to do was you put a spoon on a string.  Then you hit the spoon against something hard and then hold the string up to your ears.  I heard church bells because the vibrations traveled up the string." -Mary

"Today some of us were able to finish our writing about animals that can live in the heat, cold and underwater." ~ Chase

"In kinder-buddies we read to them and they read to us, and we helped them finish their math activity." ~ Kylee

"This morning I got to finish my Washington map! It turned our really good...I feel like I did a perfect map!" ~ Carrie

"Mrs. Swan came into library and talked to us about empathy. Empathy means that you would put yourself in somebody eases shoes when they were feeling bad or something bad happened to them. Like, if someone fell down on the playground, instead of laughing you would think "if I fell down, I wouldn't want people laughing at me." ~ Ella

"During math today we used our whiteboards and we were doing challenging division problems, we were using the dot/disk diagram to solve them." ~ Ashlynn

"I was surrounded by girls in writing rotations today." ~ ?

"During social studies some people finished their Washington maps!" ~ Kaydin

"This morning we went to music and we had auditions for Grand Coulee Dam and Roll on Columbia, Roll On. Kaydin, Chase, Kolby, LJ, Mikaela, Kylee, Austin M. and Trey sang." ~ Torri

"In social studies on our maps we did the Columbia Plateau Region and the Okanogan Highland Region. They have wheat farms in the Columbia Plateau Region." ~ Kylee

"This afternoon in writing rotations we finished our power writing about animals who survive in different environments, also known as their habitat." ~ LJ

"Also in social studies we finished our Discovering Washington book. ~ Carrie

"Today at recess Torri, Mikaela, Ashlynn, Kaitlin and I played tag, and if you tagged someone you had to link. When you were linked it slowed you down so it made it harder to tag people." ~ Ella

"In social studies today we had to label a bunch of places in Washington and then we got to color the regions in. I didn't get to because I was working really hard on my handwriting so I didn't get as far." ~ Ashlynn

"This afternoon we did writing rotations and Mrs. Byrd's class will get to go on the computers to type tomorrow." -Divinity

"After we were done with our Cascade Mountain Region on our map, we read chapters 17 and 18 in Discovering Washington.  Then, we got to play math games on the computer." -Matt

"This morning we got to have math rotations.  We learned about factors and multiples for numbers up to 100. We learned that prime numbers only have two factors, 1 and itself.  Composite numbers are where it has more than 2 factors. The number 1 is neither prime nor composite." -Sean

"We worked on our social studies maps.  We did the Cascade Mountain Regions and Western Lowlands Region too." -Kylee

"This morning I got to read with Torri our new book called Trouble River." -Mary

"Today in PE we got to play a game and you pick up a blue card and see what it says.  Then you reach in a bucket and get the piece of paper that matches the bone." -Ella

"This afternoon we did art with Mrs. Tebbets, we made a picture with a bunch of scraps of paper glued together to make the background, then we made a person doing something on the top. We were using Henri Matisse as our inspiration." ~ Carrie

"In our student booklet we did this problem where you had to break one number apart and then use the associative property to find factors." ~ Mikaela

"Today we did the ticket bin and Carson, LJ and Kylee won." ~ Kaydin

"For science we observed the minerals left behind after they were dissolved in water and the water evaporated. Mine wasn't like anyone else's...it hasn't evaporated yet." ~ Kylee

"We saw sea salt, kosher salt, Epsom salt and sodium thiosulfate crystals." ~ Kyle

"Today in science we read a story about a person writing a letter to her friend about traveling with her aunt who is a geologist. They were looking at different kinds of rocks." ~ Carrie

"This afternoon at recess Torri, Ashlynn, Ella, Kolby and I played a type of tag." ~ Mikaela

"At recess Mrs. O'Connell and I were talking about funny movies with Will Ferrell in them." ~ Kylee

"During silent reading time I read more of my Land of Stories book. This guy in the class kept falling asleep and the teacher assigned him to read Little Red Riding Hood...and he fell asleep again." ~ Abby

"We looked up information about the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma. We learned that ports help ship food and clothes from country to country. We learned that this is called importing and exporting." ~ Divinity and Sean

"This morning in math we used our whiteboards to do some problems that Mrs. O'Connell gave us and then we did lesson 22 in our workbooks. We used area models to help us find factors of numbers." ~ Kaylee, Kolby and Trey

"Today we read a story about a dog named Rico, he could understand 200 words. We looked at line graph about how many words a child between the ages of two and five could understand. So Rico who is nine can understand the same number of words as an average two year old child." ~ Trey

"Today is Divinity's last day of school! :( " ~ Ella

"We learned about prime and composite factors. Prime factors are numbers that only have one factor pair, which is one and itself." ~ Matt

"This morning people who turned in Winter Break homework got a prize, some of us who did both the math and reading homework got a pack of gum and a soda." ~ Kylee

"In science we put the rocks into these vials and we are going to leave them on our desks over the weekend to see how the Mock Rock dust looks on Monday." ~ Kaylee

"When we were studying the rock I figured out that is smelled like play dough and looked like a rainbow threw up." ~ Abby

"We didn't have any multiplication timing for an entry task today." ~ Kaylee

"We read more in 'The Kid in the Red Jacket.' It was his 1st day at his new school, he was starting to make a new friend." ~ Kolby

"This afternoon we had to do a writing prompt about "What would you ask a zookeeper in the reptile house?"

"For recess we got to play out in the snow. Chase, Johnny and I were building this snow slide that when you got in it there would be snow flying. After that we just buried Chase." ~ Kenan

"In reading we went in our Treasures books and read 'Snakes' and it was disgusting because I hate snakes!" ~ Mikaela

"At recess most of the girls and some of the boys in 4th grade played tag on the big field." ~ Ella

"In music we switched seats and we also got a piece of paper.  People got to read our history of Spokane." -Sean

"We got a new student today and his name is Austin.  We're happy to have him here!" -Carrie

"During reading, we read 'When I Went to the Library' and the girl brought a live snake in the library and the ambulance to carry away the librarian." -Mikaela

"After we read the story, we had to do a power writing about the author's purpose.  We said it was to entertain because it had humor and sarcasm in it." -Matt

"In reading we started a new book called The Kid in the Red Jacket." -Kaydin

"Also in math today we learned something new about doing division.  We were doing area models and arrays." -Kylee

"We had our first day of social studies today.  We are learning about maps and the state of Washington." -Carrie

"During social studies we got to watch a video about world maps and other kinds of maps and how they work." -Abby

"While we were doing math, we were learning about division and division with remainders." -Kaydin

"This afternoon in our Treasures book, we had partners and we read a play about reptiles." -Mikaela

"In reading we also took a spelling pretest.  Most of words had the /er/ sound.  The spelling patterns were ir, ur, and er." -Kylee
