"Today we got to do the ticket bin, Matthew, Abby and Kylee won." ~ Matt

"This afternoon our class had hot cocoa and we watched The Polar Express." ~ Chase

"I got to make a fuse bead stocking today for a silent choice." ~ Kylee

"I brought in cookies today for our party and Torri helped me pass them out to the class and to the teachers." ~ Divinity

"We had the class party for Christmas and my dad came in! We were watching The Polar Express." ~ Ashlynn

"Because it's Friday, we got to do our multiplication and division math timing, and it was the only educational thing we did today." ~ Kaydin

"During our class party we got to have candy canes along with our hot cocoa and wear pajamas. We also go to wear slippers and crazy hair and bring stuffed animals." ~ Mikaela

"This morning for our entry task we got to do a Christmas word search." ~ Sean

"In resource we got to have buy day and we got two candy canes, popcorn, and a pencil with an eraser." ~ Torri

"It started snowing today!" ~ Carrie

"This afternoon we had Kaydin's birthday and we had cupcakes. He got a whole bunch of stuff from the teachers like pencils, jolly ranchers, suckers, and one of the pencils said Pepsi on it from Mr. Thompson.  It was one of his last ones." -Mikaela

"Today our class made Christmas XXXXXXX (top secret)." -LJ

"Mrs. Mary brought in frosted cookies and read us a funny Christmas story called The Mouse Before Christmas." -Abby

"The resource kids got to make secret Christmas presents." -Torri

"Our class finished Whipping Boy today.  I liked the ending when all the rats got on Hold-Your-Nose Billy and Cutwater." -Sean

"We got to do our math test. I thought it was a little bit challenging." -Divinity

"Today in music we played Capture the Flag and my team won 2 to 1." -Kolby

"We went in the 5th grade halls to listen to the 5th grade colonial speeches. And I learned that the minutemen does some stuff in a minute like find gold coins in a minute." -LJ

"This morning I gave Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. O'Connell a coffee mug and candy." -Mikaela

"At the colonial speeches, the candlemaker had a display of how they make candles.  Candles were expensive because the beeswax and all the other wax that was in it were expensive to get.  The candles that they had were not very smelly except for the beeswax." -Mary

"After we walked through the halls for the 5th grade colonial night, we had to write 10 things that we learned about the 13 colonies." -Chase

"We read more of the Whipping Boy. Jemmy and Prince Brat are in a potato carriage to the fair." -Kenan

"When I walked through the halls for Colonial Night, I was walking around with Mary and Taylor.  We went and saw Jordan and Madison." -Abby

"In math, we did all sorts of review for the test tomorrow." -Ella

"At the Christmas station, I took one of the candy canes out of the basket." -Layne

"In the morning, Mrs. O'Connell had us to an SRI test instead of the journal prompt, but we could do the journal prompt if we got finished with the SRI test." -Kaylee

"Today our class did a power writing and we did it on a story that we read today called 'Mystic Horse'. We were writing about the author's purpose.  Author's purpose is why they wrote the story. The three categories are to inform, persuade, and entertain." -Mary

"We had music today and we did talent sharing. Chase, LJ, Trey, and I did an animal show." -Kyle

"In math, our I can statement was 'I can multiply 2-digit by 1-digit problems using a place value chart'." -Kylee

"This afternoon we got to make a card about Mrs. Kittle.  We wrote about a fun time or something special with Mrs. Kittle because she is retiring soon." -Matt

"After lunch, student council had a meeting with Mrs. Swan.  We talked about the character counts assemblies." -Abby

"During music, I got to do two skits.  I got to do one with Chase, Carson, Camden, and Kylee that was funny and I also got to do a skit with Chase, Mary, and Kylee which was a skit about a game show." -Kaydin

"At the end of the Radical Rick assembly there was a huge assembly, it was really loud!" ~ Kaylee

"We have ticket bin and Self Monitor's Recess today, SM's Recess was indoors too." ~ Matt

"We got to read 'Wild Horses' again with a partner.  I was partners with Ashlynn and we had to do the cause and effect." -Mikaela

"Our class started a new book called The Whipping Boy. It is pretty good." -Carson

"This afternoon we learned new tips on solving math problems. One of them is read the problem at least 3 times. Circle the final question. Write all the information you know and draw a picture if you can." -Abby

"Mrs. Thompson today had a wonderful afternoon and so many awesome teacher moments because the math was hard and we went through it together and everyone ROCKED IT!" -Mary

Parents: ask your students to talk to you about area and perimeter!  What is the difference between the two? How can you find them?  If they know one side of a rectangle and the perimeter, can they find the missing side?
